Pantanal: In Search of the Jaguar - 4 days and 3 nights

Departures from Cuiabá and transfer to Pousada, situated in the middle of Pantanal, which will be our starting point for various excursions.
Initially we will make a path of about 100 km of paved road until we reach the town of Poconé, from where we will start a beautiful journey of about 40/50 km along the famous Transpantaneira, a dirt road that goes into the Pantanal and along which you can see various animals, such as anteaters, monkeys, coati, alligators, capybara, jabirù storks and many other species of birds.

We remind you that the exact schedule of the excursions may vary according to the season, the water cycle and the climatic conditions, the order of the excursions could be change respect to those described in the travel program; the exact times of each excursion will be confirmed by the pousada staff. During your stay the following tours will be scheduled at the pousada: horse riding, boat rides, trekking, bird watching, photo safari and nocturnal viewing of caimans.

You will enjoy ecological hiking tour through the wilderness of the Pantanal, guided by local guides that know all about the flora and fauna that make this place unique.
To avoid the intense heath during the day, the tours are taking place early in the morning and mid-afternoon, at these times of the day, the possibilities of seeing the movement of the animals are a lot bigger.

At night there will be a night safari, with our 4x4 Jeep we will go into the deep darkness of the night of the Pantanal and with the help of a spotlight placed on the vehicle we will try to spot the animals including little wolfs, foxes, deers, owls, alligators and many others.
At night the temperature sometimes drops below 20 ° C, take care to wear a sweatshirt to avoid getting cold.

Dinner of local cuisine served until 9:00 p.m and overnight stay at pousada in Poconé in the Pantanal.

Around 07:00 / 08:00 am we will make a beautiful horse excursion, riding the famous pantaneiros horses and following the ecological paths which, depending on the season, can be either flooded under a meter of water, or completely dry, following paths that pass in the middle of the prairies in order to reach the most strategic observation points to meet the animals.

At 10:00 am will start a beautiful tour of about 60 km along the famous dirt road Transpantaneira until you reach the town Porto Jofre, a dirt road that goes into the Pantanal wilder, in an area of pristine rivers as the Rio Cuiabá, Três Irmãos, Rio São Lourenço and Rio Piquiri. 
Along the way is possible to see various animals, such as anteaters, monkeys, alligators, capybaras, coatis, abirù storks and many others species of birds; arriving at the pousada is expected in the afternoon.
Arrival at the Pousada and free afternoon, dinner served until 21:00.
Note: Not all pousadas are located in the immediate vicinity of the Rio São Lourenço River, some are located in more inland areas.

Overnight stay at pousada in Porto Jofre in the Pantanal.

Breakfast in the pousada and departure at 07:00 / 08:00 am for a beautiful boat trips, depending on the location of the lodge, transportation may be done by traveling an initial 30 to 40 minutes by vehicle or leaving directly from the river by local boat; during the months between July and October there is a good chance of spotting jaguars when approaching the edge of the river, a very exciting meeting.
Also we will see the famous river giant otters "ariranha", tapirs, capybaras, alligators and other species that may appear along the banks of the river.
Lunch will be a snack / picnic or you can even go back to the pousada, depending on the programming of the lodge.
After lunch served until 14:00 we will continue the boat trip and the sighting of animals.

Dinner served until 21:00 and overnight stay at the pousada in Porto Jofre in the Pantanal.

Later transfer to the city of Cuiabá with air conditioned vehicle along the dirt road Transpantaneira, the journey will take about 6 hours duration and will offer a last chance to spot during the car trip the animals that live in this amazing ecosystem.
For those who need to go to the airport, departure from the hotel´s reception 8 hours before the flight´s departure.
