Day 1
Rio de Janeiro

Arrival in Rio de Janeiro and accommodation in hotel with air-conditioned vehicle.
The room will be available at check in time at 2:00 p.m., still being able to leave your luggage in storage and use the common areas.
Remaining part of the day is to visit this wonderful city.

Overnight stay in Rio de Janeiro with breakfast.


Day 2
Rio de Janeiro

Departure in the morning between 08:00 and 09:20. We will be a small group of 8 people on board a rustic panoramic jeep without a roof, for the excursion to Corcovado. We will reach the hill of the same name at an altitude of 709 meters, where the large statue of "Christ the Redeemer" overlooks the city. From here, you can observe the landscape that Brazilians call the most beautiful in the world, offering a complete view of the city and the bay of Rio de Janeiro.
We will then continue to Sugarloaf Mountain, which, along with Corcovado, shares the title of tourist attraction with the most spectacular view of Rio de Janeiro. It is reachable by cable car in two stages. The first stage goes up to Morro da Urca, and from there, with a total journey of 1400 meters, you reach the summit, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay and its islands, Christ the Redeemer, and the most famous beaches of Rio.

In the afternoon, we will continue our visit to the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro, founded in 1808. It extends over a vast area of about 140 hectares and is an oasis of biodiversity, with a collection of more than 6,500 species of plants, many of which are exotic and rare.
Afterwards, we will head to explore the Tijuca Forest, a lush and mountainous area and one of the largest urban forests in the world, covering an area of about 32 square kilometers. It is a habitat for numerous species of wildlife, including monkeys, toucans, and colorful butterflies.

A local English-speaking guide will accompany you throughout this day of exploring the city. The entrance fees to Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain are included.
Return to the hotel is scheduled for 16:00 / 17:00.

The exact order in which the different areas of the city will be visited during the day may vary from the description; our guide will provide updates on the schedule during the excursion.
In private tours, the visit to Sugarloaf Mountain may be moved to the following day, and the jeep will be replaced by an air-conditioned minibus.

Day 3
Rio de Janeiro

Morning departure between 8:00 am and 9:20, we will be a small group of 8 people with a rustic panoramic jeep without a hood, we start with a visit to the historic center of Rio de Janeiro, where we will take a walk to see some historic buildings including the Palácio Tiradentes, Praça XV, Convento do Carmo, Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo and Igreja da Candelária.
Later we will visit the São Bento Monastery inaugurated in 1590 and continue to the more modern Metropolitan Cathedral, built in 1979, famous for its futuristic architecture.
Our tour will continue with a visit to another iconic venue of the city of Rio de Janeiro, the Escadaria Selarón.
Once the first part of the tour was over, we headed by jeep through the well-known Santa Teresa. Narrow, winding streets and colorful historic buildings characterize the bohemian neighborhood, while from the top of the Morro of Santa Teresa you can enjoy some of the best views in Rio, with lush landscapes and Guanabara Bay.
An English guide will accompany you during the excursion.
Return to the hotel around 12:30 pm and afternoon at leisure to rest and relax.

Note: during weekends, some churches may not be open for interior visits. In such cases, the visit will be limited to the exterior of the buildings.

Day 4
Rio de Janeiro / Foz do Iguaçu

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer in air-conditioned vehicle to airport of Rio de Janeiro and flight departure.
Leave hotel 4 hours before plane take-off.

Arrival in Foz do Iguaçu airport and hotel accommodation in air-conditioned car.

At 2:00 PM, the visit to the stunning waterfalls on the Brazilian side is scheduled. The Iguaçu National Park, established in 1939 and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, is home to 282 waterfalls, some of which reach heights of up to 82 meters. Through a panoramic walkway, visitors will be able to admire the falls up close, taking in a breathtaking view that highlights their full majesty and natural power. A unique and unforgettable experience, surrounded by one of the most extraordinary natural landscapes in the world.
We recommend the "Macuco Safari" boat tour for adventure lovers (bookable directly on-site), which allows you to go up the Iguazu River and reach the front of the waterfalls, an incredible sight. For clarity, we would like to inform you that, in addition to the cost of the tour, you will also need to pay for the driver's waiting time during the day.

Day 5
Foz do Iguaçu

At 7:00 a.m., an extraordinary experience begins with a guided tour of the Iguazú Falls on the Argentine side. In an air-conditioned vehicle, we will drive the 32 km of paved road to the National Park. During the trip, we will stop at the customs, so it is necessary to have your passport with you.
Upon arrival at the visitor center, we will take a small train that departs every 30 minutes, leading us to the panoramic walkway that crosses the heart of Iguazú National Park, a protected area renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity. We will have the opportunity to admire colorful butterflies, exotic birds, and, with a bit of luck, even coatis and monkeys.
The route offers several observation points along the walkway and suspension bridges, where you can view the falls from unique perspectives and capture breathtaking views of the powerful waterfalls. The visit culminates in one of the most exciting and iconic points: the Devil’s Throat. From here, you will witness an unforgettable scene, with the park’s largest waterfall plunging into the void, surrounded by a spectacular mist.

Return to the hotel is scheduled for late afternoon, leaving you with indelible memories of one of the most fascinating natural spectacles in the world.

Day 6
Foz do Iguaçu / São Luís

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer in air-conditioned vehicle to airport of Foz do Iguaçu and flight departure.
Leave hotel 2 hours before plane take-off.

Arrival in São Luís and accommodation in hotel with air-conditioned vehicle.
This is the first step of the trip and starting point to visit the "Rota das emoções or “Route of emotions”"
Remaining part of the day is to visit the city.

Day 7
São Luís / Barreirinhas
Departure in the morning between 06:30 and 07:40 on a 30-seat air-conditioned tourist minibus. We will travel approximately 270 km on paved roads to reach the city of Barreirinhas, one of the main gateways to the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. Arrival in the city is expected between 12:20 and 12:50.
Note: Seat allocation is random. For those seeking more comfort, a private vehicle can be requested for an additional fee.

In the afternoon, at 14:00, we will depart in a non-air-conditioned 4x4 jeep. We will cross the Rio Preguiças by barge and then follow a sandy trail that leads to the entrance of the Great Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. From here, we will begin a hike across the dunes to explore the beautiful area of Laguna Bonita. We will have the opportunity to swim in fresh, crystal-clear lagoons formed between the dunes. The rains, which fall between February and June, create numerous clear lagoons, some green and others blue, with depths of up to 4 meters. The strong winds, especially in the second half of the year, cause the dunes to shift by up to 20 meters per year, constantly reshaping the landscape, which is never the same from one season to the next.
We will return to the city after 19:00, after witnessing a breathtaking sunset among the dunes.

Day 8
Barreirinhas

Breakfast at the hotel and departure in the morning at at 08:15 from the small town of Barreirinhas towards the village of Atins, using a rustic non-air-conditioned Toyota, passing through meadows that during the rainy season are flooded and in the following months gradually dry up, creating an ideal habitat for grazing various animals.
The Lençois Maranhenses park is 30 km far away, approximately 1:40 hours, and you can already see the first dunes called the Canto di Atins, reached which we will continue to the lagoons with fresh and crystalline waters that form between the immensity of the dunes.
On the way back we will stop at a typical local restaurant that has become famous for its exceptional grilled shrimp (meal not included).

Return to the pousada about 04:30 / 5:30 pm.

Day 9
Barreirinhas / Tutoia / Parnaiba

Departure at 09:30 am in a Private air-conditioned 4x4 vehicle to the city of Tutóia which is located on the border between Maranhão and Piauí states.
On this day, we take the panoramic route for 3 and a half hours, along sandy tracks that in the rainy season can be flooded, crossing a stretch of the dunes of the Little Lençois Maranhenses, where we will meet incredibly beautiful landscapes, prairies slowly being invaded by sand dunes and native huts at the foot of the remotest desert.
Upon arriving in the small city of Rio Novo, we continue traveling 34km of paved road until we arrive in Tutóia. During the car trip, we’ll stop for lunch (not included in the price) in the village of Lagoinha, in a simple but cozy restaurant located in front of a clear water lagoon.

Arriving at the port of Tutóia around 14:30,  we depart in a fast boat to visit Delta das Americas which marks the border between Maranhão and Piauí states, formed by the Parnaíba River and effluents, which in their path toward the ocean create a group of islands, offering a beautiful view of dunes, desert beaches and streams covered by mangroves and inhabited by thousands of crabs giving rise to a piece of Amazon forest in “Route of emotions”; duration of the trip is 4 full hours with stops for swimming and taking pictures.
We’re going to navigate along more than 70 km of this beautiful delta, crossing paths with native fisherman in their simple sailing canoes; it’s going to be a fascinating trip. In some places the wind and the waves can create splashes of water that enter the boat, getting a little wet is part of the adventure.
At the end of the excursion, the sunset, from July to January, offers the possibility of watching hundreds of fire-red ibises in flight to their own refuges in the middle of the forest, a truly amazing spectacle.

Day 10
Parnaiba / Jericoacoara

Departure at 8:00 in the morning in a Private air-conditioned 4X4 to the village of Jericoacoara, travelling the panoramic route through the dunes of Luis Correia and continue along 75 km of paved road until we reach Chaval where we climb go up the observatory to see look over the small city with its houses constructed in the middle of giant rocks.
We then travel 50 km of paved road until we arrive to the city of Camocim where we cross “Rio Coreaù” boarding a ferry and the trip continues long a 40-km stretch of coast, through trails, edging sand dunes, palm trees and coconut trees on the way to Tatajuba where we get to know the lagoon "Lagoa Grande” where we will stop for lunch (not included). Our journey finally continues via Guriú and Mangue Seco, until we reach the village of Jericoacoara.
We’d like to mention that the actual duration of each visit is influenced by the schedule of the tides and is decided at the moment of the excursion. 

Note: the municipality of Jericoacoara requires a stay fee, already included in the cost of the tour. 
​The voucher that we will send you must be shown (in digital format) upon your arrival in Jericoacoara and also to the pousada where you will be staying (children up to 12 years and adults over 60 years are exempt from paying).
Important: There have been rumors circulating for a few days that a new environmental tax will be instituted in addition to the stay tax already included and paid in your itinerary but no timetable for when it will come into effect has been disclosed.The value is expected to be around R$ 50 (USD 9) per person and will be paid on the spot, although it has not yet been determined whether it will be collected at the hotel or otherwise. In case it comes into effect before your departure, I would like to point out that this cost was not included in our participation fee.

Day 11
Jericoacoara

Breakfast at the pousada and the rest of the day free to explore the village of Jericoacoara and enjoy the world-famous beaches that offer favorable conditions for kitesurfing or just relax on the beautiful beaches.

At the end of the day you can admire the spectacular sunset from the “Duna do Pôr do Sol”.

Day 12
Jericoacoara / Fortaleza

Leave between 11:30 am and 12:00 noon to Fortaleza, to the city of Fortaleza aboard air-conditioned Toyota 4x4 vehicle with a capacity of up to 6 people.
This day we travel along the shortest route lasting about 5 hours, we will start going for 20 km through trails in the sand that leave Jericoacoara until arrival in the town of Jijoca; from here you will continue along a non-panoramic road covering over 280 km of paved road, until you reach Fortaleza, arrival scheduled for 06:00 / 07:00 pm.
Note: The allocation of seats is totally random and for those who want more comfort, we offer the possibility of a private vehicle in supplement.

​The voucher that we will send you must be shown (in digital format) upon your arrival in Jericoacoara and also to the pousada where you will be staying (children up to 12 years and adults over 60 years are exempt from paying).
Important: There have been rumors circulating for a few days that a new environmental tax will be instituted in addition to the stay tax already included and paid in your itinerary but no timetable for when it will come into effect has been disclosed.The value is expected to be around R$ 50 (USD 9) per person and will be paid on the spot, although it has not yet been determined whether it will be collected at the hotel or otherwise. In case it comes into effect before your departure, I would like to point out that this cost was not included in our participation fee.

Breakfast at the pousada and the rest of the day free to explore the village of Jericoacoara and enjoy the world-famous beaches that offer favorable conditions for kitesurfing or just relax on the beautiful beaches.

At the end of the day you can admire the spectacular sunset from the “Duna do Pôr do Sol”.

Leave between 11:30 am and 12:00 noon to Fortaleza, to the city of Fortaleza aboard air-conditioned Toyota 4x4 vehicle with a capacity of up to 6 people.
This day we travel along the shortest route lasting about 5 hours, we will start going for 20 km through trails in the sand that leave Jericoacoara until arrival in the town of Jijoca; from here you will continue along a non-panoramic road covering over 280 km of paved road, until you reach Fortaleza, arrival scheduled for 06:00 / 07:00 pm.
Note: The allocation of seats is totally random and for those who want more comfort, we offer the possibility of a private vehicle in supplement.

Extra information
  • You need a Visa to enter in Argentina from Foz do Iguaçu. This Visa is basically a stamp on a page of your passport, letting the Argentine authorities endorse your visit to their country.
  • Unaccompanied minors must have permission from parents (father or mother), certified by the their consulate, on the border between Brazil and Argentina.
  • During the drought season, between October and February, the water level of the lagoons of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park decreases and the most of them are completely dry.
  • Do not forget the sun block, the hat, the cap, the sunglasses and of course the swimsuit.
  • In the months between May and October there may be somewhat cold days, we recommend having a small jacket with you.
  • In the towns and villages along the route, there are no currency exchange offices. Therefore, we recommend obtaining an adequate amount of local currency in the main cities. However, please note that credit card payments are generally accepted almost everywhere, even for small amounts.
  • Brasil Planet has no constraints with the restaurants envisaged for the route, which are chosen by drivers and guides for logistical reasons and to offer a good quality at reasonable prices. Therefore remains at the discretion of the client whether to accept or to prefer, when available, another restaurant nearby.
  • Brasil Planet is not responsible for objects forgotten in hotels or inside the vehicles.
  • We do not cancel tours due to weather conditions.

Alterations

  • Once the travel itinerary has been established and confirmed and the relevant travel documents have been sent, any subsequent changes will incur an additional fee.
  • During the execution of the trip, it will not be possible to change the transport or excursion schedules. All services are booked in advance, and any changes will require the booking and payment of a new service


Cancellations and Refunds
According to Normative Resolution No. 161 of August 9, 1985, by Embratur, in case of cancellation for any reason, the following percentages of the total value of your trip (excluding airfare) will be refunded:

  • 80% if canceled up to 30 days before the start of the trip.
  • 70% if canceled 29 to 21 days before the start of the trip.
  • 50% if canceled 20 to 7 days before the start of the trip.
  • If less than 7 days before the start of the trip, no refunds will be given.
  • No refunds will be provided for services you choose to cancel after the trip has started.
  • For trips booked during the Carnival and New Year periods, no refunds will be given.
